| 2020 | Plácido Domingo was accused by multiple women of inappropriate sexual conduct during his time in senior positions at LA Opera. A six-month independent investigation reviewed allegations covering the period from 1986 to 2019 and found 10 of them credible. The investigation did not find evidence that Domingo punished women professionally for rejecting him, or that LA Opera’s leadership deliberately concealed complaints. However, it concluded that Domingo’s status and influence made some women reluctant to report what had happened, and that LA Opera’s systems for handling complaints, documenting concerns and preventing harassment were inadequate. Domingo cooperated with the investigation but denied all allegations of unwanted contact, maintaining that his interactions with the women had been consensual. | Source |
