2010 Epica released “This Is the Time” specifically to support WWF. The band donated the profits from the single to WWF projects in the Amazon, promoted WWF membership at their merchandise booth, and described environmental protection as something they wanted to actively support. WWF confirmed that the proceeds supported Brazilian forest programs. Source
Mark Jansen said everyone was welcome at Epica shows regardless of sexual orientation, and described people as equal regardless of religion or orientation. He also criticized people who reject gay people and said Epica supported same-sex marriage. When asked about Nazi manifestations in metal, he said Nazism and that kind of extremism had no place in metal and that people should be firmly opposed to it. Source
2020 Simone Simons said the band wanted people to work together rather than be divided by systemic racism, ethnicity, sexual orientation or differing beliefs. She connected that outlook with the band's environmental concerns and the need to protect the planet. Source
2013 Epica also participated in Dutch 3FM Serious Request fundraising. In 2013 they donated VIP experiences, a soundcheck visit, photo shoot, workshop and jam session to an auction, with all proceeds going to the campaign. That year's campaign supported the International Red Cross's work addressing deaths of children from diarrhea and inadequate access to clean water and sanitation. Source
