1980, 2024 In November 1980, police responded to Henley's Los Angeles home after a 16-year-old girl overdosed on Quaaludes and cocaine. Henley testified in 2024 that he had called a sex worker, used cocaine with the girl and went to bed with her, but said he did not have sex with her and did not know she was 16 until police arrived. He pleaded no contest to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, receiving two years' probation and a $2,500 fine. Henley later described the decision as something he regretted. Source
1990 Henley founded the Walden Woods Project to protect the historic Walden Woods from development. The organization subsequently developed conservation and educational programs around the site. Source
1993 Henley co-founded the Caddo Lake Institute, which works on wetland conservation and environmental education. Its efforts contributed to Caddo Lake becoming a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Source
